Cascador/moveUP: a modular digital health platform for remote monitoring, patient support and real-world evidence
Keywords: Digital Health Data, Digital Health Solutions, Remote Monitoring, Research information system
Type
Digital solution and service (e.g. application/digital health portal/platform/AI based system/etc.)
Short description
Cascador/moveUP is a modular digital health platform and service model supporting patient engagement, digital therapy, remote monitoring, healthcare-professional collaboration and real-world evidence generation. Patients use a mobile application to receive personalised care plans, education, exercises and reminders, while reporting symptoms, treatment outcomes, activity and other patient-reported data. Healthcare professionals use a clinical dashboard to monitor patient progress, review trends and alerts, communicate securely and adapt care pathways. The platform can be configured for rehabilitation, chronic disease management, patient-support programmes, clinical research, registries and post-market evidence generation.
The underlying moveUP solution was developed from 2015 onwards by the moveUP team in collaboration with patients, healthcare professionals, hospitals and academic partners, and reached commercial readiness following CE marking in 2017. Cascador Health was founded in 2021, and Cascador Health and moveUP merged in June 2026 to create the current Cascador/moveUP organisation. The practice is intended for patients, healthcare providers, hospitals, pharmaceutical and medtech companies, researchers and registry operators. It is a proprietary, commercially licensed service that requires a project-specific agreement, configuration, implementation support and compliance with applicable clinical, regulatory, data-protection and technical requirements.
Maturity
The practice/case/tool is “on the market” and integrated in routine use. There is proven market impact in terms of job creation/spin-off creation or other company growth
The underlying moveUP platform is a mature digital health solution that is commercially available and used in routine healthcare and patient-support pathways. It has progressed from proof-of-concept development and clinical pilots in 2015–2016 to commercial deployment following CE marking in 2017. The solution has since undergone clinical evaluation, quality and security certification, and expansion across multiple therapeutic areas and care settings. Selected applications have obtained MDR Class IIa certification, including use cases related to knee and hip arthroplasty, COPD and obesity surgery. The current Cascador/moveUP offering builds on these established capabilities and extends them to remote patient monitoring, patient-support programmes, clinical research, registries and real-world evidence generation. The merger of moveUP and Cascador Health in 2026 represents an expansion and integration of existing platforms and services rather than an early-stage proof of concept. Further development and adaptation remain ongoing because functionality, regulatory status, integrations and evidence requirements vary according to the indication, country and implementation.

Comment
Cascador/moveUP has already reached significant real-world scale. The combined organisation reports that its digital health solutions have supported more than 100,000 patients across multiple care pathways, healthcare institutions and international programmes. Uptake includes routine digital rehabilitation and remote monitoring, as well as patient-support, clinical research, registry and real-world evidence programmes. The modular architecture enables deployment from individual hospital pathways to multi-country programmes, with the number of users and sites adapted to each implementation.
