Short description

The eCAP e-health platform is developed as part of the eCAP solution that aims making GERD diagnosis less time consuming, cost effective and more accurate. It is composed of a mobile application and a web platform. While the eCAP capsule captures physiological events that occur around the gastro-esophageal junction, the smartphone captures patient symptoms and events (position change, food intake). The symptoms can then be correlated with reflux event, helping practitioners in their diagnosis. The web platform allows the physician to visualize the results of the pH monitoring. At the end of the study, a pdf version of the summary of the results with the De Meester Score (a score indicative of the severity of acid reflux) is available for the health care professional to download.

It is currently being developed by RDS. The development was started in 2022 and is aimed for completion by September 2025.

The target audience is GERD patients and their medical team.

Hospitals and medical device manufacturers could be interested in knowing more about the system.

Commercialization aspects have not been finalized yet.
