Training in the E-healt environment
Short description
The aim of this course, aimed at managers of healthcare and healthcare organizations, is to explore the opportunities, challenges and implications of the use of AI in healthcare. The speakers introduce the world of AI, delving into both methods and architectures. Some applications of AI in the world of medicine are presented as well as the active projects in the province of Trento. Artificial intelligence (AI) is also becoming a relevant reality in the healthcare sector thanks to the growing production and availability of data in digital format. Although AI has the potential to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the health system, several barriers slow down its adoption and therefore its impact. Among the various barriers (e.g. legal, regulatory, organisational, etc.) cultural barriers, linked not only to the skills of healthcare professionals, but above all to their ability to think in a “new” way with respect to the new technological-organizational models that are designed and implemented with the support of AI. In 2017 PAT (The Autonomous Province of Trento), FBK (Research Foundation:Fondazione Bruno Kessler) and APSS (Trentino Local Healthcare Trust) launched the Competence Center on Digital Health, TrentinoSalute4.0” (TS4.0), with the aim of strengthening and accelerating the process of adopting digital technologies within the Health Service through a system collaborative approach. Among the various functions of TS4.0, the promotion of advanced training courses in the Digital Health sector is of particular importance, which also includes a learning component in the field through the activation of feasibility studies on project ideas that arise from the needs of healthcare professionals by APSS. Through the presence of skills in artificial intelligence methodologies and technologies applied to the healthcare sector and a design and development laboratory, the FBK Health&Wellbeing center can play a key role in the implementation of the advanced training courses envisaged by TS4 .0. It should also be emphasized that both the issue of health training and that of artificial intelligence in the health sector play an important role within the actions envisaged by the PNRR (mission 6 and mission 4 respectively).
