The development of the Slovenian eHealth Strategy is part of a project under the European Commission’s Structural Reform Support Programme (SRSP). The project aims to develop an eHealth Strategy and Investment Plan that will outline the objectives and priorities for the development of eHealth in Slovenia for the period 2022-2027. In addition, it will detail the way forward for the introduction of a single electronic health record (eHealth Record) and the creation of a national telehealth framework (hereafter also referred to as “telehealth”) and the amendment of related legislation to enable better oversight of the eHealth system and to streamline the flow of data for better patient care and informed policy-making.
The strategy should also contribute to guiding the optimisation, integration and connectivity of existing information systems and databases, the efficiency of management and control processes and data security. In the long term, the project will contribute to improving the efficiency of the health system and to better management and control of processes.
The Slovenian eHealth Strategy clearly emphasises the role of the patient and puts him/her at the centre, while incorporating the perspectives and suggestions of the project’s primary stakeholders: healthcare providers, policy makers and payers.
