Short description
A first common thread in the eHealth action plan 2022-2024 is the concept of a ‘Belgian Integrated Health Record’ (BIHR) that was developed by a group of healthcare experts and that is positioned as the reference framework for the evolution of eHealth in the coming years to support integrated and multidisciplinary care. Health and continuity of high-quality care are central to this, based on a citizen/patient (and his/her environment) who wants to actively contribute to his/her/their good health. The second common thread is the secondary use of data, which will be facilitated by the Health Data Authority (HDA). Secondary use should enable the use of data for innovation, research and development, as well as population management and policy support based on aggregated data. This can be supported by making ‘real-world data’ from the BIHR available as ‘routinely collected data’ and by increasing the documentation, findability, accessibility, quality and reusability of the data. The HDA programme will be elaborated in a separate action plan.
